Lategan reaches the finish line without a windshield: “It was not a good day”

Sports Writing, 13 Jan. The South African Henk Lategan (Toyota) reached the finish line of the twelfth special of the Dakar without a front windshield after a crash at the start of the timed session.

“It was not a good day. We crashed at the start of the special and we did several laps,” explained the driver after the stage.

Lategan finished the day in 73rd place in the car, 48:35 behind the winner, the Frenchman Sébastien Loeb.

In general, he has moved away from the fight for the podium, which he now has almost an hour away, and has been overtaken by his compatriot Giniel de Villiers (Toyota), who has relegated him to fifth position by 12 minutes. EFE
