Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba called on partners to strongly condemn the shelling by Russian troops of a correctional institution in the occupied Olenivka, Donetsk region, and recognize the Russian Federation as a terrorist state.
This was stated by the head of Ukrainian diplomacy in Twitterreports Ukrinform.
“The Russians have committed another horrific war crime by shelling a correctional facility in occupied Olenivka where they were holding Ukrainian prisoners of war. I call on all partners to strongly condemn this gross violation of international humanitarian law and recognize the Russian Federation as a terrorist state,” he said.
As reported, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Russian troops deliberately shelled a correctional facility in Olenivka, where Ukrainian prisoners were also held.
The consequences of the shelling are specified.
In the village of Olenovka near Mariupol in the Donetsk region, there are two filtration prisons of the invaders. Former law enforcement officers, pro-Ukrainian activists, “unreliable” until sentencing or filtering, volunteers who evacuated Mariupol residents are kept here. There was also information that captured Ukrainian soldiers were brought here from Mariupol.
