Russian media are spreading a narrative about breaking off diplomatic relations with the United States in the event that Russia is officially recognized as a sponsor of terrorism.
According to Ukrinform, the Center for Counteracting Disinformation under the National Security and Defense Council reports this in Telegram.
The Russian media are spreading the narrative, voiced by Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova, that “the US initiative to recognize Russia as a sponsor of terrorism could lead to a severance of diplomatic relations.”
The JRC notes that such statements make it clear that the Kremlin is afraid of an official decision and resorts to direct threats.
In addition, it is not the top leadership of Russia that makes such statements, but the responsibility is shifted to the representative of the Foreign Ministry, who, not for the first time on the air, threatens or publicly insults.
“Thus, we see the excitement and fear of the Russian leadership in front of the stigma of the state-sponsor of terrorism, which isolates the occupiers from the civilized world even more,” the JRC added.
As Ukrinform reported, the US Senate unanimously called on the State Department to recognize Russia as a sponsor of terrorism.
