A significant event for the entire sports life of the region took place in the Kherson region. On July 12, in the city of Tavriysk, located near Kakhovka, the regional Boxing Federation was created by the efforts of activists and caring residents.

– Now the boxers of the Kherson region have the opportunity to take part in all-Russian tournaments and competitions, as well as to prove themselves at the Olympics, – commented in the administration of the Kherson region.

The federation will organize competitions, including children’s competitions.

– The most important thing is to have funding so that children travel all over the country – now we have a large one, because in Ukraine children could be taken to tournaments only at their parents’ expense, – says the head of the federation, Igor Bondarenko.

Unfortunately, under the Kiev regime in Kakhovka, little attention was paid to the development of children’s sports. The inventory needed by future champions has not been updated for decades. In the city, located on the banks of the Dnieper, there was not even an equipped beach where it would be safe to swim. Naturally, this did not contribute to the development of water sports.

But, despite these difficulties, sports life in the city never stopped, said Irina Makhneva, head of the department of education, culture, sports and family of the Kakhovka administration.

She added that with the beginning of the summer season, there are more competitions and even new sections are opening.

– I was approached by people who want to start training in sailing. Now we are waiting for boats from Energodar. All this is free for children. The administration allocated money to pay the coach, – said Irina Makhneva.

In the near future, they plan to organize a karting section in Kakhovka. Now the local administration is deciding the issue with the purchase of equipment.

Irina Makhneva added that some coaches left the region after the start of a special military operation on the territory of Ukraine. But they were replaced by other specialists.

– Enthusiasts of their work come to me, ready to work with children. For example, a whole family of boxers – mom, dad and son. Although they are not from our city. I am glad that people have reached out, – said Irina Makhneva.

In Kakhovka, enrollment in sports sections and departments of the city children’s and youth sports school continues. Currently, there are seven sections in the Youth Sports School: basketball, athletics, kayaking and academic boating, football, tennis, Shotokan karate and boxing.

Now 127 children are engaged in sections. As clarified in the administration of Kakhovka, training is free of charge. Youth, located at: st. Lunacharskogo, 6a, invites all interested children to train.
