Kharkiv and Lublin signed an Agreement on partnership and cooperation

Kharkiv and Lublin today, May 21, signed an Agreement on partnership and cooperation, which provides, in particular, assistance in the post-war reconstruction of the Ukrainian city.

“Kharkiv Mayor Igor Terekhov and President of Lublin Krzysztof Zhuk today, May 21, signed an Agreement on partnership and cooperation,” the statement says.

As noted in the mayor’s office, the document provides that the parties will develop partnerships in various areas. First of all, in the post-war reconstruction of the city, and Kharkov will receive not only material support from Poland, but also professional support. The agreement also provides for the exchange of best practices in the field of effective management and development of civil society, support for contacts between institutions of culture, education, creativity and sports, promotion of entrepreneurship and economic cooperation.

The Kharkiv mayor thanked Lublin for all-round support, attention to refugees and humanitarian assistance to those who remain in Kharkiv. He stressed that the development of international relations remains one of the priorities of the city authorities. Terekhov noted that many infrastructure facilities and residential buildings were destroyed in the city, but thanks to Poland and other partners, Kharkiv will be able to attract the best experience for restoration and development.

The document notes that Kharkiv and Lublin signed an agreement strongly condemning the aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine – a neighbor and partner of Poland in building the future of Europe; demanding that those responsible for war crimes committed by the Russian army against civilians be tried and punished; appealing to the international community with a request to support Ukraine in the fighting and in the post-war reconstruction of the country; supporting Ukraine’s candidacy for membership in the European Union.

As Ukrinform reported, Kharkiv broke off sister city relations with the cities of the Russian Federation.
