Japan steps up security measures over North Korean missile test

Prime Minister of Japan Fumio Kishida instructed the Cabinet of Ministers of the country to strengthen security measures against the backdrop of test launches of ballistic missiles by North Korea.

According to the Japanese government, the authorities are obliged to notify people of a possible “unforeseen situation.”

“Make every possible effort to collect and analyze information and carry out timely notification of the population, ensure the safety of air and sea transport, and take all necessary measures in case of unforeseen circumstances,” the prime minister’s office said.

What specific “unforeseen circumstances” Kishida had in mind is not specified.
