In the Zhytomyr region, the yield of early grains decreased

In the Zhytomyr region, the yield of early cereals is 40 centners per hectare, which is 2 centners less than in the past.

According to Ukrinform, this is reported by Public.

“The harvest continues in the Zhytomyr region. 14% of early grains have already been harvested. The average yield is 40 centners per hectare, which is two centners less than last year,” said Nina Dobrynskaya, Deputy Director of the Department of Agro-Industrial Development and Economic Policy of the Zhytomyr OVA.

According to her, the sown area of grain crops in the region is 1 million 155 thousand hectares, which is two thousand hectares more than in 2021. The total sowing increased mainly due to industrial crops, in particular sunflower. In 2021, it was 250 thousand hectares, and now it is 279 thousand hectares. We also increased the area under buckwheat by 200 hectares, sowing a total of 15.2 thousand hectares.

“We have the worst situation with sugar beets. If in 2021 they were sown on 10.8 thousand hectares, then this year there are almost half as many. And sugar beet, unfortunately, is not sown in those areas that have sugar factories. Our sugar factories Chervonets sugar factory and Signet-Center LLC will not work this year. According to the information of the Signet Center, a lot of unsold sugar is still stored in the warehouses of the company. And for this reason alone, this enterprise did not sow sugar beets,” Dobrynskaya added.
