Primorsky Krai topped the rating of the Far Eastern Federal District for insurance fraud. The All-Russian Union of Auto Insurers (VSS) believes that the prevalence of right-hand drive cars, auto-substitutes and unscrupulous lawyers are the main factors that influenced the growth of fraud with OSAGO policies.
As experts explained, the frequency of insured events in Primorye is considered the highest among all regions of the Far East. At the same time, they noted that a paradoxical situation had arisen here: on the one hand, the highest accident rate in Russia, and on the other, a lot of law-abiding motorists.
“All this suggests that a fairly large number of organized crime groups (OCGs) operate in the region in the field of auto insurance,” writes zr.media with reference to the experts of the ARIA.
The publication emphasizes that the following factors influenced the occurrence of this problem:
- In Primorye, right-hand drive cars account for 80 percent of all cars (in case of an accident, unscrupulous insurers focus on new prices for parts and mechanisms, although during repairs they use used parts and keep the cash difference for themselves).
- The proportion of registration of accidents according to the Europrotocol is growing (damage fixation occurs independently, which allows fraudsters to use different fraud schemes).
