How to remove personal data from Google search results – tips for Ukrainians
During Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the issue of the security of Ukrainian citizens is acute, including the protection of their personal data.
This was reported in Telegram press service of the Ombudsman’s Office, Ukrinform reports.
“Google has updated its privacy policy and today users have more options to remove personal data about themselves from search results. These updates are an important step and give users the confidence to protect their personal security and privacy online, which is especially true in the current environment.
The right to delete illegally processed personal data is provided for by Ukrainian legislation and complies with European standards for the protection of personal data, in particular the GDPR, which our country is currently implementing into its legislation.
Google may remove from search results such personal data as: identification number or series and passport number; bank account numbers; credit card numbers; image of handwritten signatures; image of identity documents; personal, confidential and official records, such as medical records; personal contact information (physical addresses, phone numbers and email addresses); confidential credentials.

As Ukrinform reported, the Ombudsman’s Office explained the mechanism for the return to Ukraine of children who left with their parents without documents.
