Germany to send BIBER amphibious tanks to Ukraine – Newsweek

By autumn, the “collection” of Western weapons in Ukraine may be replenished with German amphibious tanks BIBER. According to the information, Berlin intends to transfer 16 vehicles and sets of spare parts to Kyiv.

The first batch of six bridge tanks are going to be delivered in the fall, and the remaining ten next year, said the German Federal Minister of Defense Christine Lambrecht.

“With the help of BIBER, Ukrainian troops can overcome water or obstacles in battle,” the German Defense Ministry said in a statement. Newsweek. “The total package includes sixteen armored bridgelayers, as well as transport, repairs and training.”

As emphasized by the publication, this aid package will be the last from Germany to Ukraine.

BIBER tanks are armored bridge-layers that can cross ravines, ditches or other obstacles in terrain up to 20 meters wide.
