Germany to refuse coal from the Russian Federation by autumn

Chancellor of Germany Olaf Scholz said that the country, most likely, by the autumn will be able to abandon coal from Russia. He said this at a press conference after talks with the Prime Ministers of Sweden and Finland.

The German leader noted that in December, Germany began preparing to reduce dependence on imports of fossil resources.

Scholz also stressed that Germany will do everything possible to gradually abandon the purchase of Russian oil. He indicated that the current goal of Germany is independence from fossil energy sources, by 2045 the country should become climate neutral.

Former Financial Analyst Mikhail Belyaev said that in the short term the EU would not be able to give up energy from Russia, this also applies to coal.
