If there is no shelter at the school, it must be provided within 10 minutes of availability.
According to Ukrinform, Deputy Head of the Office of the President Kyrylo Tymoshenko announced this in a Telegram.
“Ukraine is preparing for the new academic year. After two years of the pandemic, this should have been the year when children would go to school quietly, but the war made its own adjustments. We systematically check the work that is carried out in educational institutions, because safety is the most important thing,” the official said.
He explained that in schools that will open their doors on September 1, there must be a shelter where students can be during an air raid.
“The premises should be equipped with a shelter, if the school itself does not provide for this, then the shelter should be within 10 minutes of availability,” Tymoshenko specified, adding that parents should familiarize themselves with the conditions of stay.
As Ukrinform reported, according to the State Emergency Service, only 11% of educational institutions in Ukraine now have their own civil protection facilities.
