As a result of large-scale flooding in the US state of Kentucky, at least 15 people have died.
This is reported APreports Ukrinform.
In the state, rainfall has significantly raised water levels in rivers, resulting in flooding of homes, businesses and roads, as well as landslides.
“Three inches of rain fell in three hours, which is unheard of in this area,” said Jerry Stacey, emergency management director for flood-hit Perry County.
Kentucky Governor Andy Bescher believes the death toll could double.
“There are many people in need of help that we cannot reach right now. In eastern Kentucky, there are many people on rooftops waiting to be rescued. Many are missing,” the governor said.
As Ukrinform reported, in early July, floods in Australia had to evacuate tens of thousands of people.
