FIFA increases the number of players in the applications of national teams for the 2022 World Cup to 26

Previously, the maximum was 23 athletes.

FIFA has made a number of decisions on the applications of national teams for the 2022 World Cup, according to site organizations, Ukrinform reports.

The maximum number of players in the previous lists has increased from 35 to 55.

The number of players that will be included in the final application has been increased from 23 to 26.

No more than 26 people can be on the bench at the same time. Among them there can be up to 15 substitutes and 11 staff representatives – one of them must be a team doctor.

Players eligible for the main squad must play their last match at club level no later than November 13, 2022.

These decisions were made due to the busy schedule and the coronavirus situation.

As Ukrinform reported, FIFA allowed foreign players in Ukraine and Russia to suspend contracts until June 30, 2023.
