Energy specialist on the introduction of the Russian oil price ceiling: “The agony of the European Union”

Member of the Committee for Energy Strategy and Development of the Fuel and Energy Complex of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation Rustam Tankaev in an interview with Pravda.Ru, he spoke about the EC proposal to introduce a ceiling on oil prices from Russia.

An energy expert believes that such a decision, most likely, will not affect Russia in any way.

“There is still a shortage of energy resources in the world, primarily oil and oil products. We have somewhere to sell them. And we will certainly sell them. This product is quite simple, unlike gas, it is quite easily transported,” explained Tankaev.

The representative of the fuel and energy complex of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation noted that the European Union should annually import 500 million tons of oil and oil products.

“This is 25% of the volume that is generally sold between states during the year. This is a huge volume that there is nothing to replace. There are practically no suppliers who could replace Russia in this market,” the energy specialist said.

Tankaev is confident that Russia will refuse to work with consumers who impose non-market restrictions.

“Well, so much the worse for Europe. We will have to stop driving cars and give up a lot of things, including low food prices. But this is already happening. In general, this is all the agony of the European Union,” said expert.

Earlier in Germany, explained the consequences of establishing price ceiling for Russian gas.
