Eduardo García, Minister of Labor, resigns from the cabinet of Dina Boluarte

Edward Garcia, head of the Labor and Employment Promotion portfolio, presented his resignation letter this Thursday amid protests against the administration of Dina Boluarte, which since they erupted in December have left 49 dead.

He is the first minister of the Ministerial Cabinet to resign, just two days after Congress granted him a vote of confidence, amid the escalation of violence in the south.

In his letter, Garcia points out that the Government must offer an apology and acknowledge errors in the management of control of social protests. “We cannot see the ‘other’ as an enemy”
