Director of the Center for Market Research, Institute for Statistical Research and Economics of Knowledge, National Research University Higher School of Economics Georgy Ostapkovich appreciated the initiative to pay the 13th pension to pensioners in the fall of 2022.
The bill provides not only the payment of the 13th pension, but also a double increase in the fixed payment to the insurance pension for citizens who have reached the age of 70.
Earlier it was reported that the draft law on payment of the annual 13th pension submitted to the State Duma of the Russian Federation in the fall of this year. Funds are going to accrue in December before the New Year.
“These are payments to the least well-to-do category of people. Pensioners still fall into the category of low-income, so any increase in payments is a positive thing,” Ostapkovich quotes RT.
The economist believes that with the help of additional payments, the solvency of a part of the population will increase, which will contribute to economic growth.
He advised to divide the payment of the 13th pension by months. Otherwise, according to him, this could provoke “various inflationary motives.”
