According to the head of the administration of the Zaporozhye region Evgeny Balitskyfire on Zaporozhye NPP arose due to a Ukrainian drone dropped on the station.
Balitsky noted that the dropped drone did not have much power, sufficient to cause serious damage.
At the same time, the reactor remained intact, because the drone did not hit it.
The situation at the ZNPP is under control, firefighters managed to localize the fire, there is no nuclear threat, the head of administration added.
“A drone was dropped, it’s not hitting the reactor itself, nothing threatens the reactor. We are talking about auxiliary infrastructure. Firefighters left, they are now finishing the extinguishing. I was informed that the issue does not pose a great danger in terms of nuclear threat,” said Balitsky on the First Channel.
The head of administration stressed that the radioactive background at the Zaporozhye NPP remains within the normal range.
