door-to-door bypass will help increase turnout in elections in referendums

Deputy of the State Duma of the Russian Federation Dmitry Gusev said that in wartime conditions, which are now the realities of life in the DPR, LPR, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions, the most important thing is to ensure the safety of those who come vote in referenda.

The parliamentarian in a conversation with the Public News Service noted that people should be able to safely get to their polling stations and cast their vote there.

Technically, this vote will not differ in any way from those that have already taken place in the DPR and LPR before, Gusev said. He recalled that in the Republics more than once elections were heldwhich allowed members of election commissions to gain some experience.

At the same time, the deputy noted that electronic voting would be a good way out, which could provide citizens with the necessary security.

“This is another way to cast your vote with minimal risk. After all, the Ukrainian side has recently been only engaged in intimidating the inhabitants of these regions by shelling polling stations. And although I am sure that air defense systems will work as they should, everything “Some part of the population may be afraid to leave their homes at all because of threats,” Gusev said.

The expert added that another way to ensure voter turnout in wartime conditions is door-to-door bypass with exit ballot boxes, which will also be used by members of election commissions in current referendums.
