German supermodel star of the 90s Tatjana Patitz has died at the age of 56.

Patitz, who was born in Hamburg, Germany, moved with her parents to Sweden, where she took part in a modeling competition. She later moved to the USA.

The date of the beginning of her career is considered to be 1983, and already in 1985 a photograph of a German fashion model with an unusual name for Western readers graced the cover of the British glossy magazine Vogue. According to connoisseurs, Patitz was a Big Six model: Claudia Schiffer, Cindy Crawford, Naomi Campbell, Linda Evangelista, Christy Turlington and Kate Moss.

“She was much less visible than her peers, but more mysterious, more mature, more inaccessible – and this had its own attraction,” Vogue spoke about Patitz.

Patitz has worked with renowned masters of glossy photography such as Patrick Demarchelier, Peter Lindbergh, Herb Ritz and others. Collaborated with the brand Chanel and Jean-Paul Gaultier.

It is noteworthy that after the rise of Patitz, interest in her did not disappear, and in the 2000s she was, perhaps, no less in demand than in the 90s. She also starred in several films, TV series and music videos. At the same time, she never disappeared from the public eye and until the last days she appeared on the podium and starred for fashion magazines.

According to the model’s agent Korin Nicholas, the cause of Tatiana Patitz’s death was breast cancer.
