A native of the Kursk region, who was born in the year of the departure of Stalin and Beria, Alexey Maslov From childhood he dreamed of military service. After serving urgently in the Soviet army, in the early 1970s he entered the Kharkov Guards Higher Tank Command School named after the Supreme Soviet of the Ukrainian SSR. Passed all the career stages of a Soviet officer. He commanded a platoon, then a company, and later a tank battalion in the Carpathian military district.

Biography of Alexei Maslov:

In the early 1980s, he graduated with honors from the Military Academy of Armored Forces named after Marshal Malinovsky. After graduating from the academy, in 1984 he became deputy commander, and two years later – commander of a tank regiment. In 1988, Colonel Maslov was already deputy commander of a tank division in Czechoslovakia, in the Central Group of Forces.

Two years later, he occupies the same position – but already in a tank division in the Volga-Urals military district.

In 1994, Colonel Maslov led the 15th Guards Mozyr Tank Division in the Urals Military District, where a year later he received the rank of Major General.

After graduating from the Military Academy of the General Staff of the RF Armed Forces in 1998, he was appointed to the post of Deputy Commander of the Trans-Baikal Military District for combat training. A year later, he heads the Combat Training Directorate of the headquarters of the Siberian Military District.

In 2001, having received the rank of lieutenant general, he commands the 57th army corps in the Siberian military district.

In 2003 he became chief of staff and first deputy commander of the North Caucasian Military District.

Having received the rank of colonel general in 2004, in November of the same year, by decree of Vladimir Putin, he was appointed Commander-in-Chief of the Ground Forces of the Russian Federation. Two years later, the President of the country conferred the rank of Army General on Alexei Maslov.

In early August 2008, the commander-in-chief was appointed the chief military representative of the Russian Federation to NATO in Brussels.

In October 2011, he was transferred to the reserve.

In recent years, he worked as a special representative of JSC Concern Uralvagonzavod for military-technical cooperation.

At the age of 69, on December 25, 2022, a retired general of the army suddenly passed away at the main military clinical hospital named after Burdenko in Moscow.
