Russian equipment for the construction of a complex for deep oil refining was delivered to the Moscow Oil Refinery. The unique transport operation was included in the Russian Book of Records. The oversized column weighing 1,200 tons became the heaviest cargo ever transported along the Moscow River.

The device was delivered by river transport from St. Petersburg. At first, the column was transported on special platforms along the Neva, Ladoga and Onega lakes. Then, along the Volga-Baltic Canal, the Volga and the Moscow River, they were taken to the capital. To unload equipment in Kapotnya, a pier and an access road with a platform for collecting self-propelled trailers were specially built.

– Transportation of equipment for the Moscow Oil Refinery from St. Petersburg to the capital will go down in the history of cargo transportation in Russia, – noted Mikhail Reshetkov, General Director of RTL Logistics Company. – The delivery of the apparatus has become a complex and well-thought-out logistical operation, which allowed the column to be transported safely and on time. We are proud to take part in this important project for the development of the oil industry.

To move the column, specialists used multi-axle wheeled vehicles and a special composition of river transport. When developing the route, the experts took into account several factors at once: the dimensions and weight of the column, weather conditions and the characteristics of the waterway.

The new equipment will be delivered to the Moscow Oil Refinery and installed as part of a deep oil refining complex. Its construction is the final stage of the environmental modernization of the plant, which Gazprom Neft has been carrying out since 2011. The berth in Kapotnya will be used more than once to transport equipment for the reconstruction of the Moscow Oil Refinery. Oversized cargo will be sent to the enterprise from 15 regions of the country.

– Russian equipment will form the basis of the deep oil refining complex of the Moscow Oil Refinery. The enterprise will be able to process the entire volume of oil without residue into products that are in demand on the market: gasoline, diesel fuel, aviation kerosene. Thus, the complex will increase production efficiency to the best world standards, – said General Director of the Moscow Oil Refinery Vitaly Zuber. – The plant continues the global development project, using the best domestic technologies and equipment.

The complex under construction will provide the refinery with efficient oil refining to almost 100%. The equipment brought from St. Petersburg will increase the production of gasoline, diesel fuel and aviation kerosene. The column made of high-strength chromium-molybdenum-vanadium steel is designed to operate at an internal temperature of more than 450°C.

– Renovation and scaling of the Moscow Oil Refinery contributes to the development of the whole country, contributes to overall economic growth, building up the industrial potential of the capital and, as a result, the well-being of its inhabitants, – emphasized Deputy Head of the Department for Investment and Industrial Policy of the City of Moscow Daria Stepanova. – The delivery of large-sized domestic equipment will bring the start of operation of a new complex for deep oil refining and the end of the large-scale modernization program of the enterprise closer.
