construction of residential buildings and hospitals began in Mariupol

Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Marat Khusnullin stated that in Mariupol the construction and restoration of residential microdistricts, hospitals and utilities began.

According to him, experts examined almost all the buildings in the city. Now decisions are being made for each building: to repair or demolish and build a new house on this site. It is planned that by 2035 the number of citizens will grow to 500,000 people, the Deputy Prime Minister noted.

The authorities also expect to increase the port capacity of Mariupol.

“We are looking at how to develop tourism, how to make recreational areas and what types of business can still be developed on the territory of Mariupol,” Khusnullin said on the air of the Rossiya 24 TV channel.

The vice premier believes that an industrial park or a recreation area should be made on the territory of the Azovstal plant.

At the end of February, the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation and DPR fighters blocked Mariupol. On April 10, units of the Ukrainian army were blocked on the territory of the Azovstal enterprise. By May 20, all Ukrainian militants laid down their arms, left the catacombs and surrendered.

According to the UN, 450,000 people left Mariupol. Up to 90% of residential buildings were destroyed in the city.
