Clippers beat Rockets 95-93 in tight matchup

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Paul George broke a tie with six seconds left and finished with 35 points, and the Los Angeles Clippers beat the Houston Rockets 95-93 to snap their four-game losing streak.

Ivica Zubac added 16 points and 12 rebounds for the Clippers, who played without Kawhi Leonard or John Wall. Leonard missed his fifth game and Wall his second, both monitoring knee injuries.

KJ Martin scored 23 points off the bench to lead the Rockets (1-8), who lost their fourth straight.

The lead changed hands in the third quarter, in which George scored 12 points.

Martin, who finished four points shy of his career high, picked up speed late in the third and early in the fourth. Tari Eason and Martin combined for 11 straight points to put Houston back on top, 76-71, late in the third.

Later, a 3-pointer by George tied the score at 93 with 39 seconds left. The fans were on their feet for the last seconds.

George stole the ball from former clipper Eric Gordon. After another timeout, Reggie Jackson passed the ball to George, who scored and gave the Clippers their first lead of the fourth quarter.

Gordon’s shot missed as the horn sounded and he gestured to indicate that he thought he had been missed.

George lost three important balls in the last minutes.
