China threatens to renegotiate ties with G7 over Taiwan stance

Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Hua Chunying warned that representatives of Beijing able to change the attitude towards members of the “Big Seven”.

“If they (representatives of the G7 group – Note. ed.) do not correct their erroneous position on Taiwan, we will be forced to reconsider the meaning of the dialogue,” the diplomat stressed during the briefing.

Earlier, she said that Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and his Japanese counterpart Yoshimasa Hayashi would not be able to hold the scheduled talks. The reason was the statements of the leaders of the “Big Seven” against the backdrop of visit of the Speaker of the House of Representatives USA Nancy Pelosi in Taipei.
