Bulgarian parliament votes no confidence in government

People’s Assembly Bulgaria passed a vote of no confidence in the coalition government led by the prime minister Kiril Petkov. This is reported BNT.

According to the channel, 123 deputies voted for the government’s resignation, while 115 Bulgarian parliamentarians voted against.

A vote of no confidence was put forward by the deputies of the GERB party, as well as a number of opposition associations of the parliament. They mainly expressed their dissatisfaction with the financial and economic policy of the government.

Under Bulgarian law, a parliamentary coalition led by Petkov must now form a new council of ministers. If this fails, then the GERB party will receive such an opportunity. In case of failure of this attempt, the third mandate to form a government will be given to the party, which will be determined by the president of the country. If this fails, the head of state will dissolve parliament.
