Biden warns Xi Jinping against China’s attempts to undermine peace in Taiwan
US President Joe Biden discussed with the head of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping issues of bilateral and global politics and warned him about the inadmissibility of destabilization and threat to peace in Taiwan.
The leaders’ conversation took place on Thursday, Ukrinform reports citing White House.
“Regarding Taiwan, President Biden emphasized that the United States’ policy has not changed and that the United States strongly opposes unilateral attempts to change the status quo or undermine peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait,” the document says.
In addition, it is noted that the presidents discussed issues important for bilateral relations, as well as other regional and global issues.
As reported, the leaders of the United States and China spoke by phone on March 18. After that, there were repeated high-level contacts between the two countries, which covered, among other things, the theme of the war of the Russian Federation in Ukraine.
