The President of the United States respects the decision of the Speaker of the House of Representatives to visit Taiwan.
John Kirby, coordinator for strategic communications at the US National Security Council, said this at a briefing in Washington, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.
“The president respects the speaker’s decision to visit Taiwan,” Kirby replied when asked to comment on whether the US leader supports the visit.
The government official also stressed that Bidenwho was once a senator, respects the right of members of Congress to visit other countries.
As Ukrinform reported, Speaker of the House of Representatives of the US Congress Nancy Pelosi, who is considered the third person in the structure of US government, arrived in Taiwan on Tuesday on a visit despite China’s threats of “consequences” for the US.
The White House assured that will make every effortto ensure the safety of the American delegation during this trip.
