The Chairman of the Russian Investigative Committee held an operational meeting in Mariupol on the investigation of the crimes of Ukrainian nationalists. At it, he stated that 101 criminal cases had already been transferred to the prosecutor’s office on the facts of war crimes of the military personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Among the cases, the accusation against the head of the RKhBZ service of the 37th separate motorized infantry battalion “Zaporozhye” of the 56th separate motorized infantry brigade, senior lieutenant Oleg Kolmychevsky, stands out.

“He is accused of cruel treatment of the civilian population. According to the investigation, in March 2022, while in Mariupol, he gave an illegal order to the servicemen of his unit to kill civilians passing near the positions occupied by the Armed Forces of Ukraine. It was established that privates Dobrovolsky and Romashin repeatedly reported to Kolmychevsky about the discovery of unarmed civilians, for which each time they received the same order – to kill them. During the investigation, Dobrovolsky and Romashin reported that they were aware of the nature of their actions and confirmed that as a result of the execution of Kolmychevsky’s obviously illegal orders, 8 civilians were killed, ”Alexander Bastrykin told the details at the operational meeting.

According to the head of the department, out of 101 criminal cases completed by the investigation, 74 cases are on the facts of killings of civilians, and 27 – on the facts of destruction as a result of shelling of civilian infrastructure. 134 servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, who were detained during a special military operation, were brought to criminal responsibility, of which 25 were representatives of officers, 17 sergeants and 92 privates.

Bastrykin said that during the investigation, in the liberated territory of the Starobelsky district of the LPR, near the village of Polovinkino, a base of the Ukrainian nationalist battalion “Aidar” was discovered, which was converted into a torture prison, equipped in a former meat processing plant. The territory of the base is fortified, surrounded by a concrete fence with barbed wire, there are several firing positions. Cells for detainees are equipped in the workshop itself in the former smokehouses.

“The investigation carried out a detailed inspection of the territory of the prison. Two former prisoners were identified and interrogated, who spoke in detail about the atrocities of the Nazis. During their stay in the captivity of the Aidar battalion, at least 30 detainees were kept there, at least 7 of them, unable to withstand the torture, died or were killed. The purpose of the militants, among other things, was to obtain a ransom from the relatives of the abducted and held by them civilians,” Bastrykin told shocking details.

The investigation also continues to work on establishing the damage caused by the armed formations of the Kyiv regime, which is already estimated by experts at more than 560 billion rubles. It is estimated that at least 211 billion rubles will be required to restore the infrastructure of Donbass.

After listening to the reports of his subordinates, the chairman of the Investigative Committee emphasized that the units of the Russian Investigative Committee in the DPR, LPR, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions receive the status of investigative bodies of Russian subjects.
