Bastrykin: Russians participated in the preparation of the terrorist attack on the Crimean bridge

Employees of the Federal Security Service (FSB) of Russia have identified suspects who are involved in the terrorist attack on the Crimean bridge, said the head of the Investigative Committee (IC) of Russia, Alexander Bastrykin. According to him, in addition to representatives of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), citizens of the Russian Federation and foreign states participated in the organization of the explosion.

The special services of Ukraine and citizens of Russia and foreign countries who helped in the preparation of the terrorist attack, Bastrykin said at a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The head of the ICR also said that representatives of the Russian special services had established the route of the truck that exploded at the transport facility of the Crimean peninsula. Bastrykin stressed that the truck made its way from Bulgaria, passing through Georgia, Armenia, North Ossetia and Krasnodar, to the point of explosion.

The explosion on the Crimean bridge occurred on October 8. The National Anti-Terrorism Committee of Russia reported that a truck exploded on the automobile side of the transport facility, igniting seven fuel tanks carried by a train traveling along a parallel railway line towards Crimea. According to reports, three people died , three more are missing.

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and US President Joe Biden held telephone conversations during which both sides condemned the referendums held in Donbass, the press service of the German government reports. They also agreed to maintain sanctions pressure on Russia.

During the discussion, Scholz and Biden pointed to the “serious violation of the principles of the UN Charter”, which was committed during the referenda on the accession of the DPR, LPR, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions to the Russian Federation. The politicians also called on Russia to “stop hostilities and completely withdraw its armed forces from the entire territory of Ukraine.”

The Federal Chancellor and the President of the United States also condemned acts of sabotage on the Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2 gas pipelines .

In turn, the press service of the White House emphasized that Biden discussed with Scholz the details of the sanctions pressure on Russia, assistance to Ukraine and the situation in the energy markets of Europe.

The leaders discussed recent developments in global energy markets, as well as the importance of ensuring reliable and affordable energy supplies, the White House press service said.

Earlier, Bloomberg columnist Jack Farchi said that possible sanctions on the Russian mining industry by the London Metal Exchange (LME) would be a shock to the global industry. The reporter is confident that the LME’s decision has far-reaching implications.
