The press service of the Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Belarus reports that in 2018 a man bought laboratory mice from various companies and individuals that did not have veterinary certificates.
Without proper examination and without quarantine, more than one thousand mice were placed with other rodents, writes mkset.ru.
“As a result, the entire livestock developed“ mouse pox ”, in order to prevent the spread of the disease, mice in the amount of almost 29 thousand units had to be euthanized,” the department said.
The damage is 4.7 million rubles. The court found the 62-year-old man guilty under paragraph “c” of Part 3 of Art. 286 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“abuse of power with causing grave consequences”) and sentenced him to five years’ imprisonment on probation. In addition, the head of the enterprise will have to compensate for the damage.
The man himself pleaded not guilty.
