As a result of Russian shelling, 18 fires broke out in the fields of Kharkiv region

Due to Russian shelling, 18 fires broke out in the fields in the Kharkiv region.

Anatoly Shkarbuta, Deputy Head of the Preventive Work Department of the Fire Safety Department of the Emergency Prevention Department of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, said this in a comment to Ukrinform.

“In 2022, 22 fires occurred in the fields of grain crops (in the Kharkiv region – ed.). Of these, 18 were as a result of shelling (by Russian troops – ed.),” Shkarbuta said.

According to him, because of the fires, crops were damaged on an area of ​​217,832 hectares, including 178,802 hectares as a result of shelling.

At the same time, the representative of the State Emergency Service noted that the harvest was saved on an area of ​​1439 hectares, of which 1316 hectares were in the fields after shelling.

As Ukrinform reported, over the entire fire-dangerous period in Ukraine, 280 fires were extinguished in agricultural land on an area of ​​more than 5,000 hectares, more than 1,500 hectares of grain crops were saved.
