Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valery Zaluzhny said that the Armed Forces of Ukraine will avenge every dead or maimed soldier.
He wrote about this in Telegramcommenting on the terrorist attack in the occupied Olenivka, Ukrinform reports.
“Russia is a terrorist state. The atrocities the Russians are committing to our prisoners of war are infuriating. We will avenge every dead or crippled brother-in-law,” Zaluzhny said.
He stressed that, unlike Russian war criminals, Ukraine complies with the norms of international humanitarian law.
“We will do everything possible and impossible to punish those responsible for the crimes against our brothers, sisters and civilians. These crimes have no statute of limitations. Know, enemies, there will be no place for you on Earth,” said the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
As Ukrinform reported, law enforcement officials opened criminal proceedings on the shelling of Olenivka in Donetsk region by Russia, as a result of which about 40 people died and 130 were injured.
According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Russian military deliberately fired on the colony in Olenivka, where Ukrainian prisoners of war were kept.
The General Staff called the Kremlin’s statements about the alleged shelling of civilian infrastructure and the population by the Armed Forces of Ukraine “an outright lie and a provocation.”
According to Ukrainian intelligence, the killing of Ukrainian prisoners in the temporarily occupied Olenivka, Donetsk region, was carried out by mercenaries from the Wagner private military company.
