For three months now, enemy aircraft have not dared to enter Ukrainian-controlled airspace, while our defenders have been shooting down one or two Russian drones every day.
Colonel Yuriy Ignat, representative of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, said this on the air of the telethon, Ukrinform reports.
“Every day we have 1-2 downed unmanned aerial vehicles of the enemy, constantly carrying out reconnaissance over the territory of Ukraine. This is happening not only in the east, but also in the north, even in the western regions two UAVs were recently shot down. I want to say that these drones are an extremely dangerous thing, they need to be shot down, because it is after their flights that a missile attack is likely to occur on infrastructure facilities, strategically important government facilities, transport interchanges, and so on,” Ignat said.
He clarified that UAVs are shot down by anti-aircraft missile forces, fighter jets, and special posts with portable anti-aircraft missile systems.
Ignat stressed that for three months now, enemy aircraft have not dared to enter the airspace controlled by Ukraine.
However, according to him, attacks by enemy attack aircraft or helicopters can occur at the forefront, they become targets not only for anti-aircraft missile or air forces, but also for the air defense of the Ground Forces and assault units.
As Ukrinform reported, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, from February 24 to July 31, the Armed Forces of Ukraine eliminated about 40,830 Russian invaders, which is 160 more than the previous day.
