The fire currently covers about 15,000 square meters and could spread further, helped by the extreme heat in Berlin.

Transport Service Berlin reported interruptions in the work of the subway and commuter train.

Nina’s mobile app is reporting an “extreme danger” and urging people to close their windows and leave nearby areas if possible, although firefighters have vowed to keep the fire from spreading to residential areas about 2km away.

Meteorologists predict daytime temperatures in Berlin at a level of at least +37 degrees.
