The president of Mexico, Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador (AMLO) voted for donald trump return to the social network Twitter, after taking a census by the controversial billionaire and owner of the platform, Elon Musk, to find out if his community of said network agreed to return his verified account to the then outgoing president of the neighboring country.

Since the also owner of Tesla acquired by 44 billion to Twitter, The well-known social network has entered a stage of crisis due to the multiple reports of “acquisition of verified persons” for 8 dollars a month, due to the massive dismissal of its employees, as well as various actions that have “broken” freedom of expression. such was the case of the censorship of the account of the former president of the USA, Donald Trump.

In this context, one of the characters who was hand in hand during his tenure in the country of the stars and stripes was his Mexican counterpart, Andres Manuel Lopez Obradorwho, on this occasion, came out to defend his “friend”, as he has cataloged him on more than one occasion, from permanently deleting his account due to the risk of “incitement to violence” in January of this year.

It was through his Twitter account that the president of Mexico pointed out that “I already voted in favor of Trump being able to use Twitter. The Statue of Liberty should not remain as an empty symbol”, assured the chief of the Executive.

The president’s response was for a tweet from Elon Musk, the new owner of Twitter, who published a survey last Friday, November 18, in which he asked his followers: “Should we return your account to former President Trump?”. In the first 17 hours, and with 6 hours to go, there are 12 million 474 thousand 205 votes. So far, 52.3% have voted for “Yes”, while 47.7% have opted for “No”.

It should be remembered that the loss of the account of the also American businessman was before “the risk of further incitement to violence” for its part: “After a thorough review of recent tweets from the @realDonaldTrump account and the context surrounding them, we have permanently suspended the account due to the risk of further incitement to violence,” Twitter said in a statement.

This is not the first time that the head of the Executive in Mexico has questioned this symbol of freedom for the United States, since last July López Obrador in his recurring routine press conference asked to start a campaign to dismantle the Statue of Liberty that is in New Yorkif the neighboring government were to convict the activist Julian Assange.

“And we must start with the campaign that, if they take him to the United States and sentence him to the maximum penalty and die in prison, we must start the campaign to dismantle the Statue of Liberty that the French handed over and that is in New York, because it is no longer a symbol of freedom,” he said.
