Almost 350 homes affected by the rains in the capital of Nicaragua

Managua, Oct 2 A total of 347 houses, with the same number of families, were affected with different degrees of flooding in Managua due to the intense rains that hit Nicaragua, the National System for Disaster Prevention, Mitigation and Attention (Sinapred) reported this Sunday.

The main effects were concentrated in the eastern part of the Nicaraguan capital, due to the overflow of the Sabana Grande and Laureles Sur riverbeds, which wreaked havoc on homes and damage to vehicles that were swept away by water currents, according to the Sinapred report. .

Of the total number of victims, 131 families suffered major damage to their homes, mainly those who live east of Managua.

Another 216 homes were reported with slight flooding in the rest of the Nicaraguan capital.

The authorities of the Mayor’s Office of Managua and Sinapred provided support to the affected families, who were given mattresses and food.

The rainy season in Nicaragua runs from mid-May to the end of November.
