Allergy sufferers need to watch their diet – experts

“The most common allergy – on birch pollen,” the Podmoskovye Segodnya online publication quotes a specialist as saying.

According to him, if a person is not “friends” with birches, an allergy sufferer may have cross-reactions to any stone fruits, including fruits growing on trees.

A similar point of view is shared by the pediatrician, allergist-immunologist, deputy of the Odintsovo city district Pavel Berezhansky.

“If you are “at odds” with birch trees, then allergy symptoms to potatoes, apples, peaches, dill and many other foods may appear,” he stressed.

In order to avoid unpleasant sensations in the form of redness of the eyes, itching, nasal congestion, sore throat, sneezing, allergy sufferers need to monitor their diet, the doctor said, and also exclude citrus fruits, chocolate, coffee, red fruits from the diet.

In addition, Berezhansky recommends “to prevent pollen from entering the apartment, block the windows with gauze or synthetic winterizer, creating an impromptu barrier, and use household appliances to purify the air.”
