Deputies in Batumi overcome opposition and protesters’ resistance

The deputies of the city assembly (sakrebulo) of Batumi were able to approve the budget for next year on November 26, despite the resistance of representatives of the opposition party United National Movement (UNM). The agency “Interpressnews” informs about it.

According to journalists, the UNM deputies tried to disrupt the meeting, and Mirdat Kamadadze sprayed an odorous substance in the hall. Opposition supporters held a protest action near the sakrebulo building. They tried to break into the meeting room, but law enforcement officers were able to restrain the protesters.

It is reported that the protesters opposed the adoption of the city budget by the deputies, whose term of office will expire in a few days. Members of the UNM want the budget to be passed by the deputies of the new convocation, elected in October.
