50% of South Koreans: Pope Francis’ visit to North Korea will not change anything

More than half of South Koreans believe that an inter-Korean summit at the Beijing Winter Olympics in February 2022 is not possible. This was reported by Yonhap News with reference to representatives of the Advisory Council for Peaceful Reunification.

According to the results of a survey conducted on November 20-21 among a thousand people, the above answer was given by 53.9% of respondents.

67.2% of respondents said that an end to the Korean War was necessary, while 27.6% said it was unnecessary.

Meanwhile, 48.7% of those polled believe that the Pope’s possible visit Francis in the DPRK can help to establish peace on the Korean Peninsula, 48.9% – hold the opposite opinion.
