Japanese authorities to consider boycotting Beijing Olympics

A decision on a possible boycott of the Winter Olympic Games in Beijing will be made in the near future by the Japanese government. This was announced on November 26 by the head of the country’s Foreign Ministry. Yoshimasa Hayashi in an interview with the Nikkei newspaper.

Hayashi explained that currently the question of boycotting the Beijing Olympics remains open. The Japanese government will decide on its approach to the sporting event in the near future, taking into account all the circumstances.

The Foreign Minister also recalled that the US authorities have not yet officially announced the final decision on the Beijing Olympics.

Recall that the XXIV Winter Olympics will be held in Beijing from 4 to 20 February 2022. The capital of the PRC will be the first city to host the Summer Olympics and will host the Winter Olympics.
