In the seven years that have passed since the launch of the Belt and Road project, from 2014 to 2021, trade between the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region of China and its participating countries reached 478.6 billion yuan (about $ 75 billion). Foreign trade in the Belt and Road format reportedly accounts for over 63% of total trade in Inner Mongolia. According to customs officials, the leading positions in the region’s foreign trade are played by private enterprises and companies; their turnover within the Belt and Road exceeds 86%.
It is noted that the main export items from the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Republic abroad are agricultural products, while imports are coal, copper ore and timber.
