The ONCE has been awarded the Gold Medal that the Academy of Performing Arts of Spain grants to those entities that work in the promotion of culture and the performing arts, during the course of the delivery ceremony held last night in Madrid and in recognition of the work they carry out in the cultural sphere, in general, and in particular, the support and collaboration for the inclusion of people with visual disabilities in the world of theater.
With this Gold Medal, the Academy has wanted to recognize the work that, throughout its 83-year history, has been carried out by ONCE in the promotion of culture, in general, and more in particular, for the support and collaboration to promote and make visible the inclusion of blind and partially sighted people in the theater.
The award was collected by the director general of ONCE, Ángel Sánchez Cánovas, and the director of Cultural Promotion, Attention to the Elderly, Youth, Leisure and Sports, Ángel Luis Gómez Blázquez, during the Gala of Academics of Honor and Gold Medals that The Academy of Performing Arts has held for the fourth time, since its foundation in 2014. The person in charge of delivering the Medal to the ONCE was the Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism of the Community of Madrid, Daniel Martínez Rodríguez.
For the director general of the ONCE, receiving the Gold Medal for the Performing Arts of Spain “motivates us and encourages us to continue being on stage with all of you and to continue fighting so that the Performing Arts are a world heritage that allows us all the days, destroy barriers and create values ”. He thanked the award of the Medal and wished he could continue “by your side to advance in the world of stages.”
Also participating in the gala were Andrés Ramos Vázquez, deputy general director of Social Services for Affiliated Persons of ONCE; the renowned actor and theater director and theater advisor of the institution, Esteve Ferrer, and the head of the Department of Cultural Promotion, Mª José Sánchez.
Together with the ONCE, the Academy awarded the second Gold Medal to ‘Clowns without borders’ and the Distinctions as Honorary Academicians to Antonio Banderas, Carmen Roche, Julia Gutiérrez Caba and Emilio Gutiérrez Caba. The gala was chaired by Jesús Cimarro, president of the Academy, and led by the actress and academic Cayetana Guillén Cuervo.
The Huelva Company Tiflonuba Teatro actively participates in the work to achieve the two fundamental objectives:
– Promote the presence of people with different capacities in the world of culture, not only as spectators but also as active members of it.
– Bringing the theater closer to all possible scenarios, but above all to the locations farthest from cultural circuits, because culture is one of the fundamental pillars for development and for the social and cultural progress of our peoples.
