The International University of Andalusia (UNIA) has presented its new program of Summer courses, which consists of 60 proposals with which to recover “maximum presence”. This has been pointed out by its rector, Jose Ignacio Garciawho has valued this activity as a “place of meeting and coexistence between highly prestigious speakers and people interested in reflection, debate and improving their knowledge”.
Thus, the International promotes 43 courses and 17 meetings which will start in The Rabida with 20 optionsbetween July 11 and 29, and in the Malaga Technological Headquarters (17 courses), from July 11 to 22. The Headquarters Antonio Machado de Baeza (19 courses) will resume the program between August 16 and September 2, to conclude in Charterhouse (Seville) from October 3 to 7 (4 courses).
In this edition, the UNIA returns with an “ambitious commitment” with which “it wants to respond to the academic concerns of our university community” and “leave screens and distance behind, as far as possible”, García underlined. Thus, the rector has announced that the Summer Courses this time they double their number of places, until 2200leaving behind the restrictions present in the last two years due to the health situation.
Amador Teach, chief of the General Staff of the Army, will be the opening speaker of a program that will once again feature prominent names. Next to him will be Luis Garcia Monteropoet and director of the Cervantes Institute, writers such as Sergio Ramirez, Juan Eslava Galan either Santiago Posteguillothe historian Mariana Teran, the lawyer of the General Council of the Judiciary Francis Xavier Sempere, Begona Gomez, director of the IE Africa Center; the former minister Christopher Montoroor the journalists Carmen Bemonte Y Eva Diaz Perez.
The return to face-to-face attendance will not completely close, however, the virtual window opened from the Andalucía International as a result of the pandemic. On this occasion they have scheduled six virtual coursesin addition to four that will be bimodal and that, therefore, can be followed both in person and through the Internet.
With more than 70 collaborating entitiesthe UNIA Summer Courses will address on this occasion topics such as digital transformationthrough cryptocurrencies, the deep learning or the blockchainthe evolution of Work marketthe teaching innovationthe agroindustrythe Energy Hello circular economyreserving space for literature, art and the humanities.
To them are added the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) and the role of companies. Areas that will be addressed through the International School organized by the UNIA and the University of Cartagena (Colombia). An initiative that expands the scope and that will serve as a prelude to the Summer Courses between June 22 and 29 with four bimodal courses.
The UNIA Summer Courses will once again have a cultural program linked to the Baeza and La Rábida venues. A formula that “allows our students and teachers to interact in a different environment, and make these courses something special”, has influenced the vice-rector for University Extension and Lifelong Learning, Manuel Acosta.
This offer of concerts, theatre, literature and cinema will start in Huelva, as has become traditional, with flamenco thanks to the voice Rocio Marquez, and in Baeza with Ariel Bringuez and his jazz. In addition, the vice-rector has pointed out, the leisure program will return to the point prior to the pandemic, opening the capacity to its entirety.
UNIA Summer Courses in Seville
The Headquarters of La Cartuja will host, finally, two courses and two summer meetings. The letters will have a special role through the proposals Andalusian poetry todayin charge of Juan Carlos Apriland History and historical novelwhich has Jose Calvo Poyato As responsible.
On the other hand, the UNIA will address urban planning through After the City: updating and upgrading the Mediterraneandirected by Valentine Trillo Y Ricardo Coelhoand will update the tourism sector with the meeting Tourism in Andalusia: from the romantic trip to the post-pandemic.
Scholarships and enrollment
People interested in enrolling in these courses or meetings must formalize their registration through www.unia.es/automatriculathrough electronic registration https://rec.redsara.es/registro/action/are/acceso.do or by presenting the standardized form at the registration office of the venue where the course is to take place.
The registration fee is 60 euros for the courses, 45 euros for the 20-hour meetings and 30 euros for the 15-hour meetings. These prices include the amount of 8 euros, for the opening of the file and the issuance of certificates. Will the registration period end? 5 calendar days before the academic activity begins, as long as there are places available.
To facilitate access to the Summer Courses, the International will launch a scholarship program in the modalities of tuition, accommodation (Baeza and La Rabida) and maintenance (only for La Rabida).
