More than 200 people enjoy badminton without barriers in Huelva

The Plaza de las Monjas hosts this Tuesday the ‘Inclusive Badminton Day’an initiative promoted by the Andalusian Badminton Federationwith the support of the Huelva City Council, as well as the Junta de Andalucía, the Provincial Council and the Atlantic Copper Foundation, which throughout this day is making it possible bring sport in Huelva closer to more than 200 people with different abilities.

In this regard, the mayor of Huelva, Gabriel Cruz, wanted to highlight that “it is a day that is part of a very nice sports project and that also has a very important integrating function, such as Badminton without barriers, which today has taken to the streets and is allowing us to see a Plaza de La Monjas full of life and a good atmosphere, with numerous activities around sports”.

Barrier-free badminton

For his part, the president of the Andalusian Badminton Federation, Carlos Longo, pointed out that “Badminton Without Barriers was born three years ago as an activity at the Andalusian Training Center facilities, located in the adjoining room of the Carolina Marín Sports Palace. , a pilot project with which the FAB wanted to begin the expansion of badminton as an inclusive sport in Andalusia, so that it could reach people with any type of disability, both physical and intellectual, promoting it as another element of inclusion in society, of self-improvement and improvement of self-perception of health”.

Since its inception, the Huelva City Council has wanted to show its full support for such a necessary and important project to overcome barriers through sport. An initiative that today has made it possible to give visibility to inclusion in the capital of Huelva, with the assistance of users from different associations and entities in the city.

A lively day where the attendees, from Aspapronias, Avadi-Down, Cristo Roto, Ansares, Tau Foundation, Opening Doors, Aspacehu, Aones, Jem +18 and Aspedio, had the opportunity to practice, with different adaptations for each of them, the sport of the Huelva champion Carolina Marín, who was also one of the renowned ‘godmothers’ of this project.
