The mayor of Huelva, gabriel crossaccompanied by his government team, has presided over the act of celebration of the Senior’s Day who, after two years of absence, has returned to the Columbian Festivalsto pay tribute “to a very strong generation, as this pandemic has shown, which has affected us all, although the elderly have been the ones who have suffered the most from both the outbreak of the disease and the restrictive measures adopted to control contagions”.

For this reason, Gabriel Cruz, before a hundred people, representatives of the 24 associations for the elderly that exist in the city, conveyed “congratulations for the responsibility and discipline shown and thanks for the example you are for this society.”

In this way, the tribute to the elderly that traditionally takes place during the Colombine Festivities, organized by the Department of Social Policies and Equality of the Huelva City Council, has on this occasion elevated all the elderly from Huelva as ‘The grandfathers and grandmothers of Las Colombinas 2022’.

Cruz acknowledged that he was excited and happy to be able to celebrate the Colombinas again with Huelva’s elders because “this is an appointment with life, a day lived with joy, love, friendship and unity, which serves to remember those who are absent after the pandemic, but also to those who have survived it, because in tribute to those who have left us, we must celebrate life.”
